Mix yeast with warm water in a bowl and let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.

Combine flour, sugar, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, buttermilk and activated yeast mixture in a large bowl. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Cover dough and allow to rise in a warm place for 60-75 minutes until doubled in size.

Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness and cut into donuts using a donut cutter.

Heat vegetable oil to 182°C (360°F) and fry donuts for 90 seconds per side until golden brown.

Combine powdered sugar, milk and pink food coloring to create glaze. Dip cooled donuts in pink glaze and immediately top with sprinkles.
