Place one pastry sheet on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Layer ham and cheese evenly on pastry, leaving a 2.5 cm (1-inch) border around all edges.

Beat egg with water until fully combined.

Brush egg wash on pastry edges to help create a seal.

Top with second pastry sheet and firmly press edges together to seal completely.

Cut several small vents in top layer and brush entire surface with remaining egg wash.
