# Ingredients:

→ Base Ingredients

01 - 2 tablespoons avocado oil or cooking oil
02 - 2-3 medium-large onions (3 cups), sliced into half moons
03 - 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, plus 1/4 teaspoon
04 - 1/2 cup water for deglazing

→ Aromatics

05 - 2-3 cloves garlic, minced

→ Creamy Elements

06 - 1 cup sour cream
07 - 1/2 cup Greek yogurt

→ Seasonings

08 - 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
09 - 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
10 - 1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper

→ Herbs & Garnish

11 - 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
12 - 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
13 - Everything bagel seasoning for garnish (optional)

# Steps:

01 - Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add onions and 1/2 teaspoon salt, cook for 5 minutes until they begin to soften.
02 - Reduce heat to medium and continue cooking for 45-50 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add small amounts of water as needed to prevent burning and help with caramelization.
03 - Add minced garlic during the final 1-2 minutes of cooking the onions.
04 - Remove skillet from heat, deglaze with water to release any flavorful bits from the pan, then allow the onion mixture to cool for 10-15 minutes.
05 - Reserve a small portion of the caramelized onions for garnish. Mix the remaining caramelized onions with sour cream, Greek yogurt, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, remaining salt, black pepper, parsley, and chives until well combined.
06 - Either chill for 1-2 hours to allow flavors to meld and texture to thicken, or serve immediately. Top with reserved caramelized onions and optional everything bagel seasoning.

# Notes:

01 - The caramelization process takes time but delivers exceptional flavor depth.
02 - Flavor improves after 24 hours of refrigeration.
03 - For a lighter version, substitute all sour cream with Greek yogurt.
04 - Maintain medium heat throughout caramelization for optimal results.
05 - Keeps fresh for up to 5 days when properly refrigerated.
